Your post is one I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I must admit I was also curious to see what a fellow “first-timer” was up to here:)

Well, I now find myself faced with an incredible wave of emotion late at night where I live, processing a similar pain, and feeling so very interestingly understood through the words of someone I have never even met before. What a post – so full of love, so full of reflection, so full of, even, embracing the ‘goodbye’.

I appreciate that the case of letting go that you shared about here in your post is that of a friendship. I wish I could put into words just how deeply I feel this same sorrow - maybe I will one day. Where love in its romantic expression is the love that is usually pedestalized, or, at the very least, remembered, it is a beautiful experience to encounter a retelling of a love lost that was entirely platonic within a friendship.

What I really love about your post is the penetrating wave of personal accountability that you bring within the fourth step, I believe. The “yes, you do accept it” - the bit that is so often disregarded for the sake of self-victimization, when in certain cases we are not victims. We are active participants in what we allow in our space. And for sharing this overlooked yet universally truthful bit, I thank you.

I have to thank you.

When I published this first article, I was afraid of what people might think when they read it, but your comment left me speechless. It's so beautifully written and personal. I never imagined my writings would reach people in that way.

As you may have noticed, my Substack works in three different sections. I'm in the process of writing my first research article, which will be much more "academic" than personal like this article. Even so, I hope you read it and enjoy it as much as this article. Thank you again.

I understand the “what might they think” part of the fear. Your words resonated deeply. Thank you for sharing it with the world. Looking forward to the research article, and best of luck writing it!
